YOUTH TEAM  (FAQ'S)

Detroit Soccer District is open to accepting players of ALL skill levels/experience into our community.

Our select teams compete in various select divisions of the Western Suburban Soccer League (WSSL).

​Our recreational teams compete in the Detroit Parks and Recreation League (DPRD), in our own in Detroit Soccer District (DSD) leagues, and in various divisions of Western Suburban Soccer League (WSSL) recreational divisions.​

DIFFERENCES  'SELECT VS RECREATIONAL'  TEAMS


​Select
  • Players receive more advanced coaching, and become apart of a positive/high-quality performance based environment​.
  • Teams play in a more competitive league; further travel for some games.
  •  Season/Team 
    • Select teams are chosen in the spring (during tryouts) and 'sign'/stay together for the following soccer year (fall, winter, spring). Each season is approximately 7-8 weeks.
  • Jersey/Kit
    • Players​ get 2 full kits (jerseys, shorts, and socks) and pay a one time jersey fee for the season. 
  • Practice
    • 1 hour - 1.5 hour long practices, 2 days of practice per week.
    • Optional goalkeeper and extra technical trainings.
  • Games
    • Typically 1-2 games per week; 8-9 games per season.
  • Tournaments
    • Select teams participate in at-least one tournament each year.
    • Eligible to qualify for 'MSYSA Jr. State Cup' or ' MSYSA State Cup' 
  • Tryouts
    • Attendance is required for tryouts (in spring) and players will be selected/invited to a team from tryouts.
  • Cost
    • ​$1,800 - $2,100 range annually; families required to pay all fees for fall, winter, and spring (payment plans + soccer scholarships available).

Recreational
  • Detroit Soccer District offers recreational programming year round (fall, winter, and spring).
  • Our recreational teams provide players with; mentorship, team-building, community, belonging/friendships, development, life-enriching experiences, and fun.
  • Season/Team
    • ​Seasons last 7-8 weeks.
  • Jersey/Kit
    • ​Players receive one jersey, and one pair of shorts (varies per season).
  • Practice
    • 1 hour training 1 day per week.
    • Optional goalkeeper and extra technical trainings.
  • Games
    • Typically one game each weekend, 8 games in fall and 8 games in spring. 
  • Tournaments
    • Not required but a team can choose to participate.
  • Tryouts
    • ​Not required. Optional to partake in.
  • Cost
    • ​$700 - $1,500 range annually (depending upon how many seasons you choose to participate).
